"Quick, someone create a Steve Ballmer animation as Max Headroom touting Vista!"

Good one.

I'd forgotten about Max...

Almost makes me feel as old as last week, when a younger co-worker mentioned going to see the "Get Smart" movie - without realizing it was based on an old TV show. :(

There is anecdotal evidence that service pack three for Windows XP Pro for enterprise vendors screws with the Registry to the point where all pass words for admin are thrown out. Either do a complete wipe and fresh install or update to Vista. If this is not freetard/XP fan bullshit, I smell class action lawsuit.

Meanwhile, me and my fair lady are heading to Siberia to watch the solar eclipse next week. At least they have good internet in Novobezerkistan, at least, so I'm told.

I resent when people suggest I'm all washed up and have no future. I really resent it. I am the person who almost made a living mocking one of the greatest business leaders of this generation. That makes me a somebody, not a nobody.

"IMO, one of the biggest reasons Apple seems so good is because they control their hardware platform with an iron fist. So you don’t get Apple machines which use bottom tier crap parts like you do with a Gateway or HP or whatever."

Exactly.

I've been using macs, at home, since late '84.

In parallel, I've been using WinTel computers at my various jobs - DOS, WIN3.1, WinNT, Win2k Pro, and WinXP Pro [my current employer doesn't see any reason to upgrade to Vista, or just doesn't want spend the money when 2k & XP are meeting our needs]

We're supposedly some kind of cult because we were willing to pay more for higher-quality hardware, and a better OS - especially back in the DOS/Win3.1 years ~shudders~

I could probably use Vista or Leopard at home - and be happy - but the funny thing is my Core 2 Duo-based iMac -can- dual-boot into Windows... if I felt the need to buy a copy of Vista or XP at retail. I just haven't felt the need to run Windows at home.

anyway...

I've never used Vista, but two relatives bought new machines in 2007 and -hated- how many things they had to do differently, after using XP for years... so it makes me wonder what they would think if someone had put them through such a "blind taste test" of Vista. :)
